I'm a little bummed that the new Star Trek movie is going to be about Kirk and the original series—not a fan. Actually, that's not true. I really dislike TOS and never could bring myself to watch more than 5 minutes of it.
Anyway, I think they should go into the future (post TNG/DS9). I also think Lucy Liu should be cast as the captain.
That would be hot.

Date: 2006-08-02 02:24 pm (UTC)I think just about every fan is sighing at them going back to the orginal series...they need to get a freakin clue and give us something new instead of this going back shit. After Enterprise you would think they would know what we want.

Date: 2006-08-02 02:42 pm (UTC)I wouldn't mind a new series depicting Federation life post dominion war.

Date: 2006-08-02 05:55 pm (UTC)That would be cool.
I have no idea why they're trying to go back in time with different actors playing... argh. it's just annoying. It would be like having someone else play Picard or Sisko—that would be blasphemy. So I can totally see why TOS fans would be pissed.
ok I think I just totally nerded out.

Date: 2006-08-04 01:11 am (UTC)From Oct. 5 to 8, Christie's auction house in New York will be selling off more than a thousand Star Trek mementos — everything from Vulcan jewelry to Captain Kirk's tear-away gold jerseys, the Associated Press reports. The merchandise, spanning four decades of the sci-fi hit and its myriad spin-offs, is valued at nearly $2 million. In other words, the hand-me-downs are worth their weight in dilithium crystals. Speaking of Trek, Sci Fi has acquired the rights to Enterprise and plans to begin airing the Scott Bakula prequel this fall. Even more exciting (well, maybe only to me), as part of its deal with CBS Paramount Domestic Television, the cabler also now owns Kindred: The Embraced (the vampire soap opera starring the late, great Mark Frankel) and Wolf Lake (the werewolf soap opera starring the thankfully alive-and-well Sharon Lawrence).
