I CAN HAZ GRAMMAR?
Jul. 7th, 2008 04:31 pm...a little concerned.
I've noticed lately that, in IRL conversations, I'll say things like, "This." in response to someone saying something I agree with. Of course, this is followed by people waiting for me to finish my sentence, which usually ends up like "This (awkward pause), I agree with."
This is maybe preferred to the other thing I do, which is actually think "iawtc" which is fortunately not something that can be pronounced. This causes a brief pause before I blurt out "I agree with this [or that] comment". Of course it sounds stoic and, well, fraking weird in a real life conversation.
Between this and thinking "LMAO" and "LOL" in my head to IRL situations, I'm beginning to think the matrix is rewiring my brain.
Even worse though is that I have never in my life needed spell checker. I've been fortunate in that spelling has just come naturally to me. In the past few years, however, I've noticed my grammatical skills just completely fall off. I've even caught myself mistype your when I meant you're (which just brings a shiver to my spine). Fortunately I catch it right if I reread; but how long will it be before I lose even the ability to identify it?
meh.
So, I think the intarwebs are making me dumber. I guess I'll start worrying about it when I begin dreaming in LOLcats.
On second thought, maybe I'll enjoy it. Now, if my brain rickrolls me in my sleep, there will be hell toupee.
