I just passed a tourist on the street trying to flag a cab.

Unless it's 2 am (when the bars close) or you're in front of a hotel, that rarely works here.

You (usually) need to call a cab.

This isn't Manhattan, and they don't just drive around for shits and giggles!

If you're in W Hollywood, call Beverly Hills Cab @ (310) 273-6611. Write it on your arm or something. They're super quick. BUT, you need to have an address. Telling them to meet at the corner of x and y usually won't fly. They want an address.

Remember the info you gave them, because they may quiz you when they show up (people will steal your cab). The BH cabs are so awesome they generally check to see if you are whom they're supposed to be picking up.

If for some reason Bev Hills Cab doesn't work, backup is: Yellow Cab... (877) 733-3305.

Yeah, I noticed the total lack of cabs the other day when I walked like half-way across the city to go shopping. Though I did end up picking one up by total luck for the ride back.

yeah if u head to a hotel or a club near closing you can often score one, but otherwise you can wait a while. The other thing is the lights on the "Taxi" sign pretty much mean nothing here. lol

Isn't it awesome. I would so score if I were on. I took the online quiz the other day and got 100%.
definitely not a hard test by any means but easy cash would be hard to turn down.
I watched today, though, and he asked some sports questions which totally blew my theory.

When I lived in Windsor, I used to always ride withCanadian Checker Cab. You almost always had to call for a taxi, as they also only drove if they had a fare and didn't just go around popping wheelies or whatever bored taxi drivers do. They also let you ride shotgun if you were the only person and the drivers were always talkative, which was just fine with me.

Here in Chicago its very rare to get a U.S. cabbie. My favorite ones are the Russians/Poles...speed seems to be their motto.
I have several cab #'s in my cell for the places I've visited/will visit again.

The Bars close at 2AM?! Most in the city of Chicago...4Am weekdays, 5AM weekends.

i..flagged down a cab in weho.. well, more like ditched the cab that i called when a cab slowed down for me.. pretty quick ride to chinatown, though it was like 6 in the morning
