1. The EU and China, etc. all bitching about the US ownership of the internets. Well, we made it, we get to keep it! But seriously, in case you haven't noticed, we have a hard enough time keeping our government's hands the fuck off dees nets. We really don't need a bunch of bureaucrats from around the world putting their two cents/euros/whatever in. ICANN's doing a pretty good job, so let the geeks do their work and STFU already. In fact, get our government out of it too.

2. This video is "freakin' sweet." Smurfs get owned. Is it wrong that I can just watch it over and over and over? *pees*

Well, I guess he went after them with the weapons he had, not the weapons he wanted. Seriously though, the obvious question: If a smurf is taken prisoner and beaten repeatedly... what color does he/Smurfette turn? The ITU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Telecommunication_Union) and the UPU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Postal_Union) were independent bodies that became UN agencies, and they just get on with their work. ICANN generally does an excellent job, it's just SCARY for the other 5.5 billion of us that [1.] the US Department of Commerce has such a major voice in how ICANN operates and what its policies are, and [2.] that ICANN's subject to the laws of California and the US and the whims of pretty much whatever asshat President or Congress or washed up Austrian movie star that you lot elect over there.

Letting the geeks get on with it is all we want. The French don't control international airmail, because that'd just be braindead.

I agree about the control over the internet. The US should keep it under US control. I don't want a bunch of UN bureaucrats fucking it up. The UN is not to be trusted.
