Because bluetooth manufacturers for cars use a standard passcode, anyone can tap into the system. So if someone cuts in front of you without signaling, you can call him an asshole using the speakers in his own car! bwaahahaha (or just eavesdrop on his conversations).

This is much better than cell phones where I could just send stupid messages to random, unknown strangers at parties.

Link (found on boing boing or slashdot): Oh, the fun to be had with this.

How'd you do this:

"This is much better than cell phones where I could just send stupid messages to random, unknown strangers at parties."

create a contact in your phone with the message you want ("Look behind you," "the call is coming from inside the house," "Those shoes with that shirt? reallY?!", "look up NOW!", "Don't drink the punch." etc... )

Then choose to send that contact by Bluetooth. Your phone will then search for unwilling participants' cell phones that are discoverable. Pick one.

One note: if you named your phone in Bluetooth, make sure it's not your name or you might be given away!

it seems after all the publicity of the serious hacks (where ppl coud download your data), most of the new phones seem to have discovery turned off by default, so it's hard to find victims now. *sigh*

I can't beleive I never thought of that...Nokia's allow you to have them always discoverable...Moto at least the RAZR only is discoverable for about 1 minute. I miss working day shift, I had unlimited access to sending messages like that now all the people who work nights are techies and we are too smart to keep ourselves visable. Also Nokia, does not tell you who the message is coming from which is a good thing.
